ABOUT

Here you will find Artisan Quilts . . . crafted with pride in every stitch. Unique and one-of-a-kind items designed for beauty and assembled to be functional.

All sizes of quilts are available from crib to queen / king. Techniques used include Machine Pieced, Machine Appliquéd, or a combination of Pieced and Appliquéd. All quilts are Machine Quilted with an overall random, freehand pattern.

I'm a Juried Member of Round the Mountain Artisan Network in Southwest Virginia. Member of Black Horse Artisan Guild in Wytheville, VA.

I have been sewing in some form since early childhood . . . I started my first quilt when still in in my pre-teen years – I was hand-embroidering various designs on denim squares, with the hopes of figuring out how to hook them all together (maybe one day I’ll figure it out and finish this quilt - my first “unfinished object” or better known as a UFO in the quilting world).

I transitioned into sewing clothing for myself and others during Home Economics class in High School years. One of my Home Economics teachers liked my work so well she had me make a few garments for her. I’ve altered wedding gowns and suit jackets, and made a few of these as well. I made clothing for my little sister and then for my own children but as they grew up and grew out of the “home made” things and wanted the trendy store-bought clothing, I went back to my quilting roots and have been stitching away ever since.

I made a brief detour from quilting and went into the crafting business, operating under the business name of “Stings Attached”. For two and a half years I crafted and sewed marionettes to sell as various Mall craft shows in VA, NC, MD & WV.

My sewing and quilting roots go back to my grandmothers – both made quilts and clothing for their families. I have had the rare privilege and honor to complete quilt tops that were stated by my grandmothers. The top from my Grandmother Dean dated back to the 1950’s and the tops from my Grandmother Crigger dated back to the 1970’s.

Please don’t get sticker shock when viewing my items . . . all are constructed of new, quality fabrics – cottons and cotton Batiks. When purchasing fabrics for even the simplest bed-sized quilt most often 8 to 10 yards of fabric is purchased for the tops with 7 to 9 yards in the backs, factor in time for construction and quilting . . . and you can understand where the prices originate. These are not the blankets you see in big-box stores and outlets, but one of a kind Artisan Quilts.

Remember . . . Quilts are Love you can touch!
