Sweet paradise - Finished size - Lap Quilt - Approx 66" x 54"
Every quilt has a story . . . the reason for its existence. Some celebrate special occasions, some are made as gifts, and some are created simply because they spoke to the quilt artist’s creative desires.
Here’s a quilt that spoke to my creative desires in a time when everything around was in utter chaos. The pattern was featured by Batiks Etcetera and Sew What Fabrics. as a free pattern for the “Timeless Treasures Wish” collection. The soft pastels in the collection brought on a sense of calmness, for peaceful and restful times.
I rarely follow a pattern exactly . . . but I had to make this quilt as it was featured in the pattern. I placed my fabric order with Sew What in the late evening, and the next morning the fabric was on its way to me!
As I was making the quilt, I felt the calmness generated from the pastels. To name the quilt, I combined two names from the fabric in the collection . . . my favorite fabric was called “Sweet” . . . the backing fabric was called “Paradise” . . . so the name was born “Sweet Paradise”.
Like Rainbows in the sky bring promise of the sun returning after a storm, for me this quilt brings the promise that life will return to “normal” . . . and when it does, it will be “Sweet Paradise”
